I remember the day my children got into the carefully contained contents of the paper shredder. My first reaction was that of horror! My instinct was to go get the broom and immediately clean it up, but I stopped myself. I changed my perspective from that of an adult, who wants everything in order, all.the.time., to that of a child who was having fun with paper! There was laughter! My children were having FUN!
I went and grabbed my camera. I knew that someday we would all look back on this photo and have more laughs. I was reminded of the sometimes seemingly mindless quotes you see floating around the internet hold some truth:
"When the milk is spilled all over the floor and those little eyes are looking to you for your reaction, remember what really matters. It takes 5 minutes to clean up spilled milk, it takes much longer to clean up a broken spirit." ~ Rebecca Eanes
I am human. There are times when I lose my temper. I have asked for the forgiveness of my children. I have forgiven myself. When it's all said and done, I'm hoping the times I react ideally will far out way the times I missed the mark.
It is just paper, after all.
