Doesn't this table look glorious? Can you picture yourself content here for a few hours? I can!
What makes this picture so special to me is...it was taken by a real Mom.
I had been watching the new Mom of a 12 month old struggle through the week, via her Facebook posts. Struggling through the monotonous days of being home with her young son, without a break. She knew she needed a break, and arranged it. When she posted this picture she titled it "My corner of the world tonight."
The expectations to get it all done, keep the baby happy, find a way to help out financially from home, not to mention be happy while doing it all, can be too much for one to bear.
Mother's feel that we need to prove to the world, our significant other and to ourselves that if we are doing 100% of the baby care we are Mom Enough.
How about we redefine what we picture as being a good Mom? A Mom who recognizes when she is being pushed to her limits and speaks up for herself to those around her. "I'm really feeling like I need a break." "I'd really like time to myself on a weekly basis."
Understanding that taking the time out for ourselves is critical to keeping the JOY in Motherhood. What will you do for yourself in the coming week?
